Reproductive Struggle from the River to the Sea
Settler colonial studies (SCS) analyzes Palestine/Israel as a case where Zionist settlers seized and populated the geopolitical region already home to indigenous Palestinians with the goal of expelling or eliminating them, thereby making Jewish/Israeli settlers into ‘natives.’ However, SCS is one-sided insofar as it prioritizes Israeli colonization without accounting for how Palestinian have struggled to reproduce themselves and contest their colonization. I offer a Marxist Feminist critique of SCS in order to highlight how Palestinian social reproduction has been central as a target of Israeli colonization but also for the development of Palestinians’ anticolonial liberation struggle, exemplified by Palestinian women.
