Using Transition IEPs to Support Students Ages 14-22 Years.


In this session, participants will gain an understanding of key elements related to Transition IEPs and how they can align with agency-provided services and supports. This session will introduce participants to the Oregon Transition Resource Handbook and the 8 transition-related standards outlined in the IEP while focusing on their significance in supporting successful transitions of students with diverse abilities, ages 14-22.

Sally Simich is a Secondary Transition Education Specialist for Oregon Department of Education. She provides technical assistance and professional development to school districts, parents , and participating agencies to support and ensure a firm understanding of secondary special education, transition services, and Transition IEP’s, Mrs. Simich spent 34 years teaching across all levels covering and in a leadership role. She worked with families and students in elementary school create high expectations for post-secondary outcomes, on up to assisting transition aged students in developing post-secondary goals for successful transition from secondary education to postsecondary education, training and employment.
