The University of Oregon Department of Linguistics is excited to be hosting the 2027 Linguistics Society of America Summer Institute, in Eugene, OR, USA from June 27 to July 23, 2027.
The Institute is the largest and most prestigious summer school for linguistics in the world, and has been held since 1928.Eugene is a city of ~170,000 people, home to the University of Oregon, located at the southern end of the beautiful Willamette Valley. Within a 90-minute drive, you will find snow-capped mountains, a gorgeous coastline, wild hot springs, deserted ocean beaches, top-notch wineries, and more.

Courses & Faculty
The Institute will also offer a full suite of introductory and methods courses, including introductions to various approaches to phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, Bayesian and frequentist statistics, computational linguistics and neural nets, electrophysiology, eyetracking and ultrasound.

The cost of tuition will be approximately $1600 for 2.5 weeks and $2500 for 5 weeks. About 20 fellowships are available from the Linguistics Society of America.
Registration for the institute will open in February 2027, at which point the fellowships will have been allocated.
Some courses will be held on Monday & Thursday; others on Tuesday & Friday (except for Field Methods, which will be 4 days a week). Wednesdays and weekends will host tutorials, workshops and conferences.
