Registration

General Info For All APSI Registrants

Thank you for choosing our Oregon APSI for your summer professional development. This page contains some useful information about parking, housing, the EMU, and APSI meals. Our home base is the Erb Memorial Union (EMU). Eight of our workshops will be in this new state-of-the art facility. The APSI office is located in EMU 023 | Lease Crutcher Lewis Room. On Tuesday, August 13, there will be a short welcome and meeting for all participants in the EMU at 8:15 am. On Tuesday, Sessions will go from 8:45 am to 4:00 pm; on Wednesday and Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm; and on Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The College Board requires a minimum of 30 hours of instruction.

Parking Permits On Campus Lots

Parking permits are required at campus parking lots 7 days a week. For a limited number of parking spaces on campus, one can park a car from 6 pm – 9 pm without a permit, however with the exception of the UO Housing parking area, overnight parking is not allowed. There are reduced rate ($8/day) daytime permits available for purchase with APSI registration for participants who are staying at area hotels and/or commuting in daily. There are reduced rate ($12/night) overnight permits available for purchase with registration for those who are staying at UO Housing. For participants who are on a tight budget, like to take long walks, and are healthy, https://oregonapsi.com has additional options for parking and commuting to University of Oregon.

Meals

A light continental breakfast (8 am), a mid-morning break (10 am) and afternoon break (2 pm) will be served daily Tuesday-Friday in the APSI office located in Erb Memorial Union EMU 023 | Lease Crutcher Lewis Room. Lunch is also included with registration for APSI. Upon check-in, each guest will be given a meal card that allows access to the dining facilities at Carson Dining for lunch on 8/13-8/16. The hours of lunch service for APSI participants will be either 11 am- noon or 1 pm -2 pm depending upon which youth group is using the dining hall. Carson Dining is the building to the East of the EMU.

UO Libraries

The facilities of the Allen Price Science Commons and Research Library and the Knight Library are available for studying scholarly investigations, but APSI participants will not be able to check-out books or materials.

Info For Participants Opting Into UO Housing Overnight Accommodations

Rooms

Rooms offered for attendees of the University of Oregon Advanced Placement Summer Institute will be located in Kalapuya Ilihi residence hall. Rooms are modest and standard hotel amenities like room service, air conditioning, and daily maid service are NOT available. Each room has two twin-sized beds, desks with chairs, closets, and private restrooms with shower. While the rooms are not air-conditioned, summer nights in Eugene are typically comfortable. You are welcome to bring a small portable fan. Rooms are provided with sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. Beds are made upon arrival; linens are changed for stays exceeding one week. Daily towel service is provided. Remember to bring your own toiletries. Sleeping bags are not allowed per fire regulations. Alcohol, smoking, open flames or pets are not permitted in the resident halls.

Bathrooms

All Kalapuya Ilihi residence hall rooms have their own private restroom and shower. Daily towel service is provided, but please remember to bring your own toiletries.

Laundry

The Kalapuya Ilihi residence hall has card operated laundry facilities, available for use by guests. You can purchase a laundry card at the Global Scholars Hall Service Center.

Check-In Directions

Check in will be handled at the Global Scholars Hall Service Center, at 1710 East 15th Avenue Eugene, OR 97403.

PLEASE NOTE: Check-in on August 12, 2019 will NOT be available until 8AM. Check-out time for all departing days is by Noon.

Starting at 8AM on August 12, check-in will be available until 5pm. If you plan to arrive after hours you will need to call our After Hours hotline to be greeted by an employee and check-in (541)346-5686. There will be signs and arrows for the Global Scholars Hall Service Center. On the day of departure, please be sure to return your housing keys to the Global Scholars Hall service center drop box. The drop box is located in the same area as check-in and will be labeled so it is easy to locate.

UO Housing Cancellations & Changes

All changes to your reservations and housing cancellations must be made by July 29, 2019 at 5pm PDT. All cancellations must be submitted in writing; send an e-mail to apsireg@uoregon.edu or fax to 1.541.346.3545. Cancellations will be subject to a $35 service fee if made before 5pm, July 29, 2019. After the cancellation deadline, no refunds will be granted for cancelled reservations.

Additional Important Information

Guests will be required to show ID upon check in. Guest shall be responsible for all damages to property caused by guests or invitees; the University assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any persons or property occupying these facilities.

Please be aware that alcohol, smoking, open flames, sleeping bags, cooking, fireworks/firearms or pets are not permitted in the resident halls.

University Of Oregon Housing Rules/Guest Release

Upon your arrival at the University of Oregon, you will be asked to sign a Guest Release Form, which reads:

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING RULES AND EXPECTATIONS TO INSURE THE COMFORT AND SAFETY OF ALL GUESTS.

No smoking
No candles or incense
No alcohol
No hot plates
No fireworks, fire arms
No microwaves
No pets (except for guide dogs)
No portable air conditioning units
No sleeping bags

Responsibility for damages/Indemnification: Guests shall be responsible for all damages to property, injury to persons, and loss, expense, inconvenience, and delay which may be caused by, or result from any act or omission of the Guest or the Guest's invitees. The University assumes no responsibility whatever for any property placed in or on University facilities or premises, and University is hereby expressly relieved and discharged from any and all liabilities for any loss, injury or damage to persons or property. The Guest shall indemnify and hold harmless the University, its officers, agents, and employees from all claims, suits, or actions of any nature arising out of the acts or omission of the Guest or his or her invitees.

Right to Remove Housed Individuals: University shall, at all times, have the authority to remove any individual from University Housing if, in the sole discretion of the University, the continued presence of such individual causes a threat of harm to persons or property. If an individual is asked to vacate University Housing, he or she will not be allowed on University premises thereafter. Further, an individual removed from University Housing will not receive a refund fees or other sums paid.

I acknowledge that I have received and read the University of Oregon Housing Rules. I agree that I shall abide by all University Housing Rules and the reasonable instructions of University personnel during my stay, and further acknowledge that my failure to abide by these rules or instructions shall be cause for my removal from University Housing.

I also acknowledge that the University provides no supervision of minors or others in, on or about University facilities or premises and that I am solely responsible for the supervision and welfare of my child(ren), if any, and other minors under my supervision, if any.

I release and discharge the State of Oregon, the Oregon University System, the State Board of Higher Education, the University of Oregon, and all their respective officers, employees, agents, and volunteers ("Releases") from any and all liability and expense relating to, resulting from or arising out of my stay in University Housing. This release includes any claims based in whole or in part on the acts or omissions of the Releases.

I certify that I am at least eighteen (18) years old and that I am executing this document for myself, my child(ren), if any, and other minors under my supervision, if any.
