The Go Hub: A Community Mobility Center
Location: Oregon Convention Center - C-123
Equiticity's The Go Hub is being developed in two Chicago neighborhoods as a physical and digital space where neighborhood residents create community around mobility justice and environmental justice. Explicitly designed to increase mobility in predominantly Black and Brown neighborhoods experiencing severe transportation inequities, The Go Hub will be reflective of both the transportation needs and cultural identity of the North Lawndale neighborhood. The Go Hub’s innovative integration of hardware (mobility devices and infrastructure) and software (Community Mobility Rituals, training, and advocacy0 and requires a physical space to serve as a mobility community center for our members and neighborhood residents.

Presenters
Jesus Barajas, University of California, Davis Jesus M. Barajas is an assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of California, Davis. His research on transportation equity addresses how systems of inequities influence travel behavior and how policymakers respond. He has led projects on topics including travel behavior, bicycling safety, the implications of policing for transportation planning, and the use of equity data and metrics in transportation decision making. Some of his ongoing work examines barriers to access to zero-emission vehicles, equity in transportation grant programs, and the links between disability, safety, and travel behavior. |
Joy Massey, TransForm Joy Massey is committed to implementing equitable and sustainable clean mobility options and policies that build power in racialized communities. At TransForm, Joy leads the Electric Vehicle Carsharing and Mobility Hubs in Affordable Housing pilot project and provides equity advising on clean transportation projects. Joy possesses over ten years of experience in program development, project management, data analysis, partnership creation with diverse stakeholders and facilitation of strategic decision-making processes that center people first. Joy holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. |
Olatunji Oboi Reed, Equiticity Olatunji Oboi Reed serves as the founding President & CEO of The Equiticity Racial Equity Movement. He works globally as a racial equity tactician, increased mobility advocate, and racial justice activist. With an extensive background in both nonprofit management and corporate social responsibility, he is most proud of his work to create a diverse coalition of people, organizations, and businesses all working together to achieve racial equity and mobility justice across the City of Chicago. In 2015, Oboi was awarded The White House Transportation Champion of Change, under the administration of President Barack Obama. |
Renée Skeete, ComEd Dr. Renée Skeete is Manager of Smart Grid Programs at Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), where she leads the Community of the Future program, managing partnerships and pilot projects to drive advanced energy technology adoption, community resilience, and health and well-being. Prior to joining ComEd, she worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, gaining experience in research translation, implementation science, and built environment approaches to chronic disease prevention. Renée holds doctorate and master’s degrees in sociology from Georgia State University, and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in social science from Michigan State University. |
