Infrastructure Readiness to Support Smarter Cities and Emerging Mobility Solutions
(WA1)

This workshop is designed to provide an interactive forum to convene, learn, and understand how technology, innovative governance structures, and outreach and engagement can be used to advance smart city goals while prioritizing equity and resiliency. The discussion topics will include: intersection between technology and innovation, the built environment, and equity and accessibility; rethinking engagement both internally and externally; innovative policy and governance structures that align next generation mobility; resource considerations and needs from local perspective. A key question: How do emerging technologies impact current planning approaches around infrastructure needs?


CE Credits for APA, AIA, and ASLA, should be available for many sessions and workshops. More information on this will be available shortly.

Presenters


Greg Rodriguez Greg Rodriguez, Stantec

Greg is the policy and regulatory lead for Stantec’s Smart(ER) Mobility sector. He uses his unique legal, regulatory, and policy experience to assist clients with the development of policies and operational frameworks focused on the safe and effective deployment of transportation technologies into communities. Greg has and is leading research and analysis on smart cities, next generation infrastructure, data governance, ZEVs, and automated vehicles. He serves as the Chair of the TRB Transit and Intermodal Law Committee and is on the SAE Shared and Digital Mobility Committee. Greg is also a founding co-host of the Mobility Podcast.


Melanie Ward Melanie Ward, City of Centennial

Melanie has worked at the City of Centennial, Colorado, in various roles for about 8 years. In her current role, she uses her background in public health and urban planning to track the trends of today and lead intersectional conversations to build workplans that propel the City into the future we envision together.
