Royal Penewell, my 7th grade History of Math Teacher, inspired me to think of mathematics as something people discovered and that the more you know the more there is to know. I learned that many people know the names of half-a-dozen famous mathematicians, but there are many others who deserve to be remembered for their extraordinary contributions. Professionally, I developed software at the UW. Through the years I helped Joyce develop labs and projects for her math classes and coached high school math teams.

I am a retired Lake Washington School District Secondary Math Teacher, Math Coach, and Staff Development specialist. Having taught everything from 6th grade math to AP Calculus, I see math all around me and love to share! I have presented at many NWMC and several NCTM conferences. My mathematical passion is relating math to everyday life and creating hands on projects, experiences, and manipulatives.
