Empowerment through Data Science: Students Share their Experience in a Project-Based Classroom

Dreaming of a classroom where students are all engaged in working together on a project to improve their school community while developing math skills? Interested in teaching Data Science at your school? Come hear from a panel of Data Science students about their experience in a project-based classroom over the course of the 22-23 school year that culminated in a spontaneous development of a project to try to predict which students in a given classroom would work well together in groups. You'll hear directly from the students on how the class went overall, with special focus on the random class conversation that led to this thoughtful and meaningful project that went above and beyond expectations for the course. Students will answer some pre-arranged questions from their teacher and then do a Q&A with the audience. Anyone interested in either developing a Data Science pathway or facilitating project-based learning can benefit from joining this conversation!
