Engage & Explore! Access to Deep Mathematical Understanding for All
,
Holiday Inn Portland, Pettygrove Room, Lower level
How can we create engaging, student-centered experiences that empower all learners to activate prior knowledge, develop conceptual understanding, and move toward procedural fluency? In this session, participants will experience guided explorations that support students to notice patterns and form big mathematical ideas. Participants will be introduced to the Universal Design for Learning framework with a focus on the comprehension checkpoints. Connections will be made to the five strands of mathematical proficiency and effective teaching practices.
