Focus on conceptual understanding of “big ideas”: linear equations, quadratics, multiple representations, thinking graphically, words to symbols, using structure, solve systems using creative technology integration. Obtain activities and strategies that augment what you do for test prep and test-taking. Address how differently SAT asks questions and how TI-84 graphing technology can assist.

Fitch High School / Youngstown State University

Tom has taught mathematics for 35 years at Fitch High School in northeast Ohio where he earned National Board Certification, the Presidential Award, and other recognition. He is the past president of CPAM, Council of Presidential Awardees in Mathematics. Tom also taught mathematics, computer science, and mathematics education as an adjunct instructor at Youngstown State University for 40 years. Since 2009 he has been working full time as a Senior Math Advisor for Texas Instruments in Product Development and Strategy. Tom has been providing professional development nationally and internationally since 1995, traveling to 49 states and 7 countries.
