Mr. Nathan Storring

Deputy Director, Bass Initiative on Innovation & Placemaking

Project for Public Spcaes

As a core team member of the Bass Initiative on Innovation & Placemaking, Nate helps oversee research, convenings, and communications exploring the connections between place, economic development, and inclusive growth. Through the initiative, he has investigated the rise of innovation districts, from Philadelphia to Valencia, as well as the economic life of public markets and arts districts. He is also part of the PPS communications team, a regular contributor to the PPS blog and newsletter, and the program coordinator for PPS's first and second Placemaking Week conferences, held in Vancouver (2016) and Amsterdam (2017), respectively. Nate has extensive experience interpreting complex urban issues for the general public through writing, exhibitions, events, and multimedia projects. In 2016, he co-edited Vital Little Plans, a career-spanning collection of short writings by Jane Jacobs, one of the twentieth century's greatest urban thinkers, and a pioneer of the placemaking movement.
