Dr. Michael Lowry is an associate professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Idaho and conducts research for the National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology (NIATT). His research focuses on engineering and planning for bicycle and pedestrian travel. Dr. Lowry serves on the National Academy of Science Committee for Bicycle Transportation Research and the Committee for Transportation Investment Decision-Making. He teaches courses on transportation planning, benefit-cost analysis, and geographic information systems. He was awarded the College of Engineering Outstanding Young Faculty award for excellence in teaching and research. Dr. Lowry has spent substantial time abroad as a visiting scholar in Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
