National Inclusive Health and Wellness Advocate/Speaker
Former Ms. Wheelchair America
A widely recognized and visible champion, national spokesperson and enthusiastic advocate for disability rights, deeply committed to educating the public and bringing mainstream visibility to issues that impact the disability community and the greater community at large, Juliette Rizzo knows firsthand the power of transforming barriers into opportunity. As the former Ms. Wheelchair America, and one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women, Juliette is a national advocate for inclusive health and wellness. Juliette was called upon by two former U.S. Surgeon Generals to roll out the “Call to Action to Improve the Health and Wellness of Persons with Disabilities,” and, most recently, to launch “Walking, Walkable, and Rollable Communities.” Last fall, Juliette presented an opening plenary at the America Walks 2017 National Walking Summit and co-created an accessibility walkshop with disability advocate and Walking College graduate, Garrett Brumfield of Overcome Yours. Juliette also served as the National Public Relations Chair for the National Walk to Cure Arthritis, an $11 million property involving nearly 350 events in 40 markets and over 80,000 walkers. Juliette also has been featured on the Discovery Health Channel’s National Body Challenge series. She holds degrees in journalism from the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University.
