Phil has served as Bike Utah’s executive director since 2014. Under his leadership, Bike Utah has become a more impactful organization that has made Utah one of the top ten bicycle friendly states in the country. He is responsible for initiating organizational campaigns and programs that have: gotten more kids and adults riding bicycles; increased the number of Utah communities with active transportation plans; and connected communities to technical and financial resources so they can build new and better bicycle lanes, paths, and trails. Phil’s prior work experience includes Program Manager for GREENbike (Salt Lake City’s bike share program), SmartTrips Coordinator for Salt Lake City’s Division of Sustainability, Environmental Education Teacher for the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan, and Coordinator for the Outdoor Recreation Program at North Dakota State University. He has a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism from the University of Utah.
