Bio

Sarah Mazze manages Safe Routes to School for Eugene School District 4J, encouraging and making it safer for students to use active transportation for their school commute. In this position, she has worked with partners to develop a means of ranking infrastructure needs around schools; launched monthly Walk & Roll events and walking school buses at multiple schools; transitioned the district's pedestrian safety classes to be taught in PE class in order to reach all elementary students annually; and has programmed district bond money towards infrastructure improvements around schools. Previously, she spent ten years as Program Manager for the climate change-focused, The Resource Innovation Group (TRIG), and was a Senior Fellow at Willamette University. There, she focused on behavior change towards environmentally positive behaviors, including through replicable programs to increase residential solar and energy efficiency and climate change education and outreach. She has served on both the City of Eugene’s Sustainability Commission and their Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. She is currently a bike/pedestrian representative on the Lane Area Commission on Transportation.
