Physical Activity and Health Branch, CDC
Dr. Geoffrey P Whitfield is an epidemiologist from the Physical Activity and Health Branch at the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. He holds a master’s degree in exercise physiology and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Texas System. His research interests include the health impacts of transportation-related physical activity, the environments that support walking and bicycling, and public health surveillance of active transportation. At the CDC, Dr. Whitfield has worked with partners in academia and all levels of government to support walking and bicycling initiatives, and has published peer-reviewed manuscripts on national-level walking and bicycling surveillance, health impact modeling, and novel data sources.
