Marketa Vavrova is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems at the University of Texas at El Paso, TX. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. Marketa has been involved in various research projects for metropolitan planning organizations, including the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in San Francisco Bay Area, CA and the Metropolitan Planning Organization in El Paso, TX. Her passions include incorporating social and environmental sustainability into strategic metropolitan transportation planning, multimodal performance measurement, and active transportation planning. She is also one of the authors of a National Highway Cooperative Research Report 859, Consequences of Delayed Maintenance of Highway Assets, and a recipient of the European Platform of Transport Sciences’ Friedrich List Award 2012, and the International Road Federation Fellowship in 2014.
