NWSSA 14TH Annual Silver Falls Stone Carving Symposium

Silver Falls State Park, Oregon (30 Minutes east of Salem)

Registration Information

All levels of experience are welcome. The symposium includes instruction, workshops, mentoring, lodging, great food, air and electricity. The lodge and work sites are set in an old growth forest with trails and nine waterfalls. There will be stone and tool dealers on site along with numerous guest artists.

Symposium fee: $465 Students, $565 NWSSA members, $665 non-members
NWSSA membership fee (optional): $60
UO course: ARTS 408/508
CRNs: 42522 (undergraduate), 42523 (graduate)
Credit information: 1, 2, or 3 undergraduate or graduate credits, dependant on attending part or all of the symposium
Credit Tuition: $130 per credit (This is in addition to the symposium fee.)

Clothing

Expect rain or shine and 65-75 degree weather. All participants should bring rain gear, sturdy shoes or boots, and protective clothing. The class will be held outside under shelter. Do not wear sandals.

Costs and Supplies

The participant supplies carving shelter, tools and stone. There will be some tools and work stands available for those enrolled for UO credit.

Eligibility

Summer Session is open to everyone—there are no admission requirements to meet before you enroll.

Stone carving is physically demanding, especially in a concentrated workshop format. Participants need to be 16 years or older.

In order to attend this symposium it is necessary to contact the Symposium Coordinator regardless of whether you choose to receive UO credit. Please note that the NWSSA Silver Falls Symposium registration deadline is August 1, 2008.

Credit Registration Information

To receive UO credit, in addition to registering for the NWSSA Symposium, you must also register with the University of Oregon.

Current UO and Community Education Program (CEP) students should register through DuckWeb, the university’s online registration system. Alternately, interested students may contact Continuing Education at (541) 346-4231 or (800) 824-2714.

Students who have not been enrolled at UO in the last year will need to fill out a Summer Session Registration Eligibility form. Forms are in the Summer Session Catalog or at http://uosummer.uoregon.edu Catalogs can be picked up at the UO Duck Store or 333 Oregon Hall, or Hall.
