Town Meeting Eugene Springfield: Blues in the Schools
Friday, November 20, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Blues in the Schools introduces Lane County students, grades 2-12, to one of America’s original music forms–the blues. They teach students rhythm, harmonicas, songwriting, singing, and instruments, as well as explain where the blues came from and how it has influenced other forms, such as rock ‘n’ roll and jazz.

Blues in the Schools has been invited to come to OLLI and offer an exciting, interactive look at the blues, covering history, social and cultural impact and influence, and music education. A blues historian will lead a guitar player, washboard player, and harmonica player in bringing this presentation content to life.

The audience will also learn about typical blues instruments and their importance in a band, blues song structure, and how to write your own blues song, and rhythm training–all accompanied by live music throughout.
