Program Director

Sandra Gladney has been with UO Continuing Education since May 1998, coordinating a variety of professional development and university-credit programs. Sandra works with the staff and presenters to coordinate the workshop schedules, assemble promotional materials, review evaluations, and many other details of producing the Festival & Event program.

Professor Emerita and Academic Advisor

Dr. Gaylene Carpenter coordinates the Event Management Concentration for the Arts Management master’s degree. During her thirty-plus year career, she has planned and produced hundreds of programs and events, and taught event programming at five major universities in Pennsylvania, California, and Oregon. Gaylene has authored two textbooks, published dozens of articles, and spoken at numerous conferences. As Principal Investigator for A Study of Leisure During Adulthood, her research interests are focused on understanding the values, leisure, and life perceptions held by middle-aged adults.

Gaylene is a member of the International Festivals and Events Association; in 2004, the Oregon Festivals and Events Association awarded her with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for her leadership as a founding Board Member and dedication to the advancement of professional development. Program Assistant

Pat Phillips began working with UO Festival & Event Management Program in 2004. Previously, she was Vice President of Convention Marketing with the Convention & Visitors Association of Lane County Oregon (CVALCO). Pat assists with coordinating speaker needs, site selection, and the marketing of the program.

Registration Coordinator

Heather Fisher supervises the friendly staff who take your phone calls and answer your general questions. Her team supports all the Continuing Education programs and is based in Eugene. Having been with Continuing Education for over ten years, Heather can help you with special registration or payment arrangements, and much more!
