Program Overview
Let your curiosity run wild as you explore track and field past and present. From the legend of Steve Prefontaine to the waffle iron used to create Nike’s earliest running shoes, it’s clear why Eugene is Track Town USA. Join Olympic coaches, trainers, University track staff and master runners as they discuss the science of running and guide you through the Bowerman Building and historic Hayward Field. Workshops and clinics provide specialized instruction in exercise physiology, nutrition, injury prevention and more. Hear the behind-the-scenes story of how Eugene landed the 2008 and 2012 USA Olympic Team TrialsTrack and Field. At the end of the week, share in the unrivaled excitement of the 2008 Prefontaine Classicone of the world’s most prestigious track meets.
Eugene Overview
Eugene is the hub of Oregon's second largest metropolitan area and home to the University of Oregon. Located along the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers in the heart of Lane County, Eugene is known for its abundance of arts and culturea dynamic mix of art galleries and Performing Artsgreat shopping, eclectic dining options, and its long-standing reputation as "Track Town USA."
