Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked QuestionsRegistrationHow do I register for an online class if I am not an admitted UO student? You will need to complete a number of steps to register through the Community Education Program. CEP students are part-time, non-matriculating, and are limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours per term, except during summer session. CEP students are subject to the same deadlines and refunding policies as admitted students. If you are interested in becoming a CEP student and registering for a class, you should complete the steps outlined in the CEP process flow chart. For complete information on CEP status or how to obtain a Personal Access Code, please visit the CEP website or call the Community Education office at (541) 346-5614. NOTE: Be aware that some Distance Education courses require preauthorization prior to registration. What if I am an admitted UO student? You can register using DuckWeb, the University of Oregon's online registration and information system. Please check the online Schedule of Classes or the Distance Education course listing for Course Reference Numbers (CRNs), tuition, and course information. For additional information, please visit the Office of the Registrar's page on DuckWeb. Be aware that some Distance Education courses require preauthorization. Please check the Schedule of Classes or the Distance Education course listing for details. What is a CRN? A Course Reference Number (CRN) is a 5-digit number assigned to each UO course section for a term. While in a single term there may be multiple course sections offered for a particular course (i.e. AAD 250), a CRN’s function is to serve as identification for a specific course section. To find the CRN for a particular course section, view the course details on the Schedule of Classes. Are UO courses offered by term or semester? All of University of Oregon student course hours are quarter hours, as UO classes are offered by term. UO has four terms: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. |
