This half-day workshop will provide tools and perspectives on the carbon footprint of supply chain emissions, a potentially large source of shared emissions, as well as an important area of cost-of-carbon risk for higher education institutions.

Discussion of tools, methods, examples and policy issues will be used to demonstrate how (and to what extent) to engage in estimating these emissions sources. Putting supply chain emissions in the context of an existing GHG inventory will also be discussed.

The workshop will demonstrate in detail the Economic Input-Output Life-Cycle Analysis (EIOLCA) method, a public-domain technique for providing initial calculations of supply chain emissions. The workshop will also cover the use of BEES (Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability) software, a free tool from EPA.
