Dan Adler [ back ]
Dan Adler, is the president and founder of DA Digital—a consulting firm that helps companies implement Web and personalized direct mail printing applications.

Dan has been a leader in digital printing for almost 25 years. In 1991, he co-founded Lexinet, a direct mail production company specializing in unique digital print production that utilizes Web ordering and online design. Dan created one of the first true variable print full-color direct mail applications, and he has implemented some of the industry's most advanced Web full-color digital printing applications.

When a Fortune 500 insurance company with a national sales force wanted a better way of doing direct mail, Dan helped design and bring to market an on-demand direct mail program that offered flexibility and timeliness, yet allowed for the company to tightly control information being distributed to customers and prospects. Dan has also worked on a variety of bank and financial institution programs that are true 1:1 communications, utilizing database analysis for cross-sell opportunities as well as customer retention.

Dan is a frequent speaker at industry events such as Xplor International, Graph Expo, On Demand, Seybold and DMA. He has been a member of the Kansas City Direct Marketing Association, Xerox Premier Partner Advisory Board, Xplor International, and International Printers Network, and is past president of Imaging Network Group.

 

Gilles Biscos [ back ]
Gilles Biscos, the founder and president of INTERQUEST, has spent over 20 years in the information processing industry. He has extensive expertise in strategic planning, market research, competitive analysis, and the development of educational and training programs related to electronic printing/publishing and document management. Prior to founding INTERQUEST, he held various marketing and sales management positions at GENICOM Corporation, Centronics Data Computer, and the Burroughs Corporation. Mr. Biscos is the co-author of Nonimpact Electronic Printing: The Reference Handbook. He has spoken at a number of industry conferences and he has written numerous articles for publication. Mr. Biscos holds Master of Science degrees in Economics and in Social Psychology.

 

William Broddy [ back ]
Bill Broddy is Imerge Principal Consultant for Compliance Communications Business Processes. He currently assists major organizations across North America with regulatory best-practices, market planning, and implementation of electronic document delivery applications.

Bill brings over 25 years of experience with electronic document enabling and delivery. He is not only the longest-standing Electronic Document Professional (EDP) in Canada but is also an EDP Commissioner and Course Instructor for the Canadian EDP Certification Program.

Bill has been published and quoted in both professional journals and the general press, including: eBill Magazine, On-Demand Business, Xploration, Canadian Printer, the Globe and Mail, Macleans Magazine and the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation).

Xplor, the Electronic Document Systems Association, recognized his of leadership and expertise in 2004 with their most prestigous award "Xplorer of the Year".

 

Toby Cobrin [ back ]
Toby Cobrin, EDP, is an industry consultant. She has been involved in the electronic document industry for more than 20 years. Her roles have included technical and marketing positions in a leading document service bureau, technology advisor to the trade association Xplor International, and research analyst for INTERQUEST. She is the main author of Implementing Color Variable Data Printing. She is also managing the INTERQUEST Color Variable Data Advisory Service. She has spoken globally at numerous conferences and she has contributed articles to some of the leading industry trade journals. Ms. Cobrin holds a Master of Science degree in Business from Columbia University.

 

David Davis [ back ]
David Davis is Director for INTERQUEST and has more than 20 Years of experience in the printing and publishing industry where he has held both technical and managerial positions in the newspaper, book publishing, and corporate sectors. He has authored numerous industry reports and developed educational programs on a variety of industry topics, and is the author of Color Variable Data Print Languages (2002). He authors "One Byte at a Time," a bi-monthly column devoted to digital printing for In-Plant Printer magazine, and holds a Master of Science degree in Printing Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

 

Dave Evans [ back ]
Dave is the Director of Document Services, Canadian Operations for Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. Sun Life is one of the largest insurance companies in Canada with annual revenues of over $30 billion.

Dave held the same position with Clarica Life prior to the acquisition and has almost 40 years of experience in the document industry starting on a Heidelberg letterpress using handset type.

Document Services is an area with over 70 staff and a yearly budget of $28 mil. The area is responsible for the creation, production and distribution of documents in either paper or electronic format with production facilities in Waterloo, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Edmonton.

He is currently serving his second two year term on the Board of Directors of Xplor International. Dave has also served as President of the Canadian Region and Canadian Central chapter of Xplor.

In 2001 Clarica was named as the Xplor Innovator of the Year for their work in full colour variable printing. In 2002 Dave was named as one of the 50 Most Influential People in the Graphic Arts Industry in Canada and in October 2004 IBM presented an award to Sun Life for their innovative use of AFP.

Dave has been married to his wife Barbara for over 35 years, has two children and three very, very adorable grandchildren.

 

Jim Hackett [ back ]
Jim Hackett is a Direct Marketing Practitioner with over 28 years of experience helping clients get, keep and grow profitable customer relationships. Clients such as Sears, Imagitas, Clarke American and Capital One have experienced improved effectiveness and increased efficiencies resulting from Jim's guidance.

Prior to joining forces with SourceLink, Jim co-founded Direct Results Group, an award winning, all media direct marketing services company, later acquired by SourceLink.

In founding Direct Results Group in 1995, Jim Hackett brought his vision of integrated all-media direct marketing to life. His unwavering belief that marketing communication should be specific, personal and value-based was rewarded with the world's first International ECHO Award for a Web site. Now with more than 1,100 employees in 9 locations throughout North America, SourceLink provides business generation services for national and international clients, such as the United States Post Office, Scitex Digital Printing and Bank of America.

He has also served as an officer for associations such as New England Direct Marketing Association, Mail Advertising Association, Sales and Marketing Executives of Greater Boston (President for four years) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sales and Marketing Executives International. Jim was recently honored as the NEDMA Direct Marketer of the Year.

 

Skip Henk [ back ]
Henk is a 25-year veteran of the document technology and electronic printing industry. Prior to his role of president and CEO of Xplor International, he held manager, director, and vice president positions in sales and marketing for such companies as: Kodak Versamark (formerly Scitex Digital Printing), Delphax, Bull Printing Systems, Xerox, and as a principal in a service bureau. He is also a frequent speaker at regional, national and global industry events.

A member of Xplor for over 20 years he has served the association as Chairman, at large ABOD Member, and has sat on various committees such as the Vendor Advisory Council, EDP Certification and Nominating Committees. Mr. Henk also serves on the Board of the EDSF Foundation.

In his role as president and CEO, Henk provides strategic direction and leadership to Xplor International, focuses on providing value to the association's existing membership, and helps expand its ranks. In addition, he has begun extending Xplor's educational programs to include advancements in CRM, content management, digital archiving, document storage, and retrieval technologies, as well as emerging technologies.

 

P.C. (Pat) McGrew [ back ]
P.C. (Pat) McGrew, EDP has been active in information delivery environments since 1975 as a writer, trainer, designer, developer, and evangelist. Prior to joining Kodak Versamark earlier this year, Pat conducted several consulting projects for large enterprises to develop strategies for US and European print industry engagement.

McGrew is a regular speaker at industry meetings, seminars and conferences, and has been the featured speaker at a number of trade group and user conferences. She has provided keynote presentations for a variety of print industry, wireless communication industry, and ethics conferences including vendor user conferences, 3COM's EMEA Sales Team Kickoff, Comdex/Orbit, Seybold Seminars, IQPC, Xplor, Xplor UK, Share, Guide, OnDemand, Ethicomp, and a variety of academic conferences concerned with ethics in computing and privacy issues.

In 1989 she formed GenText, inc. with W.D. (Bill) McDaniel to develop a mainframe-based HyperText Document Management and Deployment system based on the principals defined in their first book, In-House Publishing in a Mainframe Environment: HyperText and Other Techniques for Macmillan. Part of her portfolio at GenText was the search for emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure that the products remained at the forefront of the industry. Within three years from the founding of the company GenText products provided the key piece of technology to archive vendors and printer manufacturers who required the ability to work with enterprise print files from all vendors in a seamless fashion. GenText products also provided the industry with the first print-to-view products. GenText was sold in 1998.

Since 1984 McGrew has co-authored seven books with McDaniel, including In House Publishing in a Mainframe Environment (Macmillan - 1st ed./McGraw-Hill - 2nd ed.), Online Text Management: Hypertext and other techniques (McGraw-Hill), Critical Mass: A Primer for Living with the Future (MC2 Books), and Wrestling Legacy Data to the Web & Beyond (MC2 Books). She is also the managing publisher for MC2 Books.

 

Joe Mislinski [ back ]
Joe Mislinski has served in leadership roles in the document technology industry for over fifteen years, in various capacities such as VP Marketing for a software company, VP Sales & Marketing for an internet startup, and GM for a division with $40MM in annual revenue.

In Joe's current role as CIO for Vestcom's Marketing & Business Communications division, he is responsible for software system development and implementation for traditional Transactional work, Print-on-demand & One-to-one marketing systems, and Web-to-print enterprise solutions.

Earlier in his career, Joe served ten years in the United States Army with command positions in Europe and Asia, concluding his service in the reserve with the rank of Major. Joe is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY and attended graduate school at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

 

Dave Smith [ back ]
Dave Smith is the Director of Operations for DST Output in El Dorado Hills, Calif. DST Output provides integrated print-and-electronic billing, customer care, and customer communications solutions to many of the country's largest financial services, communications, insurance, healthcare, and utilities companies. The company is also the largest third-party First-Class mailer in the United States.

In his current role, Dave provides strategic direction for migrating the company's customer work onto latest and most relevant state-of-the-art print and manufacturing technologies.

A 25-year veteran of the print and mail industry, Dave recently returned from a two-year assignment establishing a production facility in Bristol, England that combines DST Output's current production processes utilizing a homegrown ADF and KVM printing technology.

Prior to his current role, Dave was instrumental in the 1987 start-up of International Billing Services, which later became DST Output in 2002.

 

Richard Wolan [ back ]
Dick Wolan is Director of John Hancock Financial Services Document Solutions Group, an organization providing print-mail, mainframe printing, and commercial printing services. His responsibilities include preparing budgets, evaluating capital spending propositions, and exploring new business opportunities. Prior to that, Dick was senior consultant at CAP Ventures where he was working on forecasting models and vendor business development strategies.

Dick also worked for Xerox as Document Management Systems consultant, and at GE Systems as Program Development Manager in support of a large Technical Publications Organization. Earlier in his carrier he was Technical Manager at Lorell Publications.
