Title:Closing the Achievement Gap in Mathematics with EPGY

Description:In 2006-07 the Education Program for Gifted Youth, or EPGY, launched a two-year study to determine the efficacy of their fully differentiated kindergarten through pre-algebra mathematic online courses in eight Title I elementary schools in Santa Clara County. The data showed that regardless of ability level students who worked diligently and consistently on the program did better than their control counterparts.

Title:Use an Assessment Program to Raise the Achievement Level in Math

Description:A new standards-based assessment and accountability program in mathematics has proved successful with a 51-point increase on the Academic Performance Index in one year. Students are held to a 100 percent passage rate of all standards in algebra, geometry and algebra II. Data provided through a Web-based assessment program identifies the need for immediate remediation of any student who proves unsuccessful on any standard-based lesson.

Boards must carefully choose auditors familiar with charter school and school district reporting. This session will provide up-to-date information regarding auditor selection, required components of the auditor contract, and key outcomes of the annual financial audit. There will also be tips on developing a productive relationship with your business services provider.
