We understand the importance of continuing to champion the effective use of technology to support teaching and learning. But, in these days of tight budgets, we must continue to develop alternative strategies to convince our stakeholders that continued attention to technology is as important as every other educational initiative.

In this Forum, you will investigate and discuss innovative ways to get this message across by looking through the eyes of a member of our stakeholders group-- student, teacher, administrator, tech director, or parent. You will then collaborate with others to create your own creative message. Once the workshop is over, you will have a bank of creative, online presentations to help convince your constituent groups to keep their "eyes on the prize"!

Meet our keynote:

Karen Cator
Director, Education Leadership and Advocacy at Apple

Karen Cator directs Apple's leadership and advocacy efforts in education. In this role, she is responsible for strategic business development, Apple’s involvement in education policy efforts, Apple Professional Development, the Apple Distinguished Educator Program and the publishing of media rich teaching and learning practices on the Apple Learning Interchange. Cator came to Apple in 1997 from the public education sector, most recently leading Technology planning and implementation in Juneau, Alaska. She also served as Special Assistant for Telecommunications for the Lieutenant Governor of Alaska. Cator holds a Masters in school administration from the University of Oregon and Bachelors in early childhood education from Springfield College. She is the past chair of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills and is currently focused on the design and development of innovative learning environments for this generation of students.
