NAME BADGE & CONFERENCE MATERIALS

The Registration Area is located inside Exhibit Hall A of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center (HGCC).

General Attendees pick up badges at the Advance Registration counters designated by Gold colored Carpet. Your name badge will be filed alphabetically by last name.

All Main and Co-Presenters pick up badges at the Presenter Counters designated by Black colored Carpet. Your name badge will be filed alphabetically by last name. Student Showcase participants should have already received specific directions directly from the Program Coordination office. Contact with any questions.

 * ONSITE TECHNOLOGY

VIDEO/AUDIO RECORDING CODE OF CONDUCT (REVISED)

For NECC 2008, ISTE's permission is not required for non-commercial video and audio recording of sessions and workshops.

However, for NECC 2008, written permission from the session or workshop presenter is required prior to capturing a video or audio recording. Any permitted recording should respect the presenter's rights and not be disruptive.

Under no circumstances may any length or quality of video/audio capture be used for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes without express written permission from both the session presenter(s) and ISTE.

Wireless Network at the HGCC
Our free wireless network is accessible in all meeting rooms and public spaces at the HGCC and Grand Hyatt, except the conference exhibit hall floor. Our onsite network SSID is isteconnect; you can also stop by the "The Doctor-is-In" Booth for assistance with configuration.

Onsite Tech Support
Trouble-shooting support is available at "The Doctor-is-In" booth, located Level Two, near Room 208, Sunday, 1–6 pm; Monday-Tuesday, 8 am–4 pm & Wednesday, 8 am–1:30 pm. Docs will not use tools or open cases, but are prepared to download drivers, configure most software, and assist with network access issues.

E-mail stations
If you are not bringing a laptop to NECC, e-mail stations are provided on Level Two near the bridges.

 * OPENING KEYNOTE
Sunday, 5:45–7 pm, Ballroom C
Author, journalist, and historian James Surowiecki kicks off NECC with his perspective on The Wisdom of Crowds and the ways in which a diverse collection of independently deciding individuals is likely to make certain types of decisions and predictions better than individuals or even experts.
 * OPENING RECEPTION - An Opening Night Hoedown!
Sunday, 7–9 pm
With lots of room for all attendees to connect and convene, the NECC 2008 Opening Reception is going to be blast! Join your fellow conference participants and ISTE members through out the HGCC for networking and galore, light food, non-alcoholic beverage and live entertainment. A cash bar will be available to those 21 and older. The reception is open to registered attendees and their badged guests only; your attendee badge is required for admission. Be sure to arrive before 7 pm to pick it up your badge from the Registration Area. Shuttle transportation will be provided between the HGCC and most official conference hotels; the last shuttles will depart the HGCC at 9:15 pm. Jim Carleton and Mali Bickley are Canadian educators leveraging the collaborative power of technology to help their students help others worldwide. Aided by the generous support of NBC's education division, Jim and Mali offer a multimedia-rich, onstage dialogue featuring their inspirational experiences and can-do insights on how they have transcended traditions in education to create dynamic, engaging learning environments. Jim and Mali will be interviewed by a prominent NBC news anchor.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

 * DAILY CONFERENCE SHUTTLE SERVICE

Shuttle service is provided between most official conference hotels and the Henry B. Gonzalez Congress Center (HGCC). Approximate transit time between most locations is 10-15 minutes; please plan accordingly.

Schedules are detailed below, and fliers will be available onsite at the Transportation Desk (Street Level Lobby) and the NECC Info Booth in the Bridge Lobby. This schedule is subject to revision and was accurate as of press time. Check the transportation staging area at the Convention Center and your hotel lobby for up-to-date frequency, dates, and other changes. Though this schedule may also be affected by detours, rush hour, traffic conditions, and other events taking place in San Antonio, every effort is being made to ensure that transportation service is timely, comfortable, and consistent. Please see our representative at the Transportation Desk if your experience is otherwise.

NECC WORKSHOPS

Workshops require an additional fee
  • Half-day workshops are $109 each
  • Full-day workshops are $219 each
WORKSHOP LOCATIONS

All workshops are held at the HGCC or the Grand Hyatt Hotel (located adjacent to the Convention Center).

Check specific workshop locations in the above NECC conference options section of this email. Your name badge sheet that you will receive onsite will also list the workshop locations.

All Full Day (6hr) Workshops will have a scheduled one hour break for lunch on your own.

TOUR INFORMATION & SCHEDULE ***

All tours depart from and return to the Convention Center (HGCC) transportation loading zone. Please plan to arrive in the loading zone 15-30 minutes before the scheduled tour start time. Tour buses will depart promptly at the tour start time listed below. NOTE: NECC will not be responsible for providing alternate transportation for participants who miss their buses. There are still seats available in most of the tours listed below - contact the Registration office to add a tour.

ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 * CANCELLATION/SUBSTITUTION POLICY

Conference and Workshop Registration cancellations will be accepted through June 23, 2008. May 19, 2008 was the last day that Tours could be cancelled.

Full registration cancellations will be subject to a $99 service fee. Student/Retired Educator registrations and One-Day registration cancellations will be subject to a $59 service fee. After the cancellation deadline, no refunds will be granted. If you are unable to attend, you may substitute another individual in your place at no extra charge, but the replacement's registration fee will be subject to pricing based on her/his ISTE Membership status. NOTE: ISTE Memberships and membership-related fees are non-refundable.

All cancellations must be submitted in writing; send an e-mail to or fax to 1.541.346.3545.

Please note: NECC reserves the right to cancel workshops, tours and any other ticketed event that does not have enough enrollment to cover expenses or does not meet the enrollment minimum. In the event of this type of cancellation, the ticketed events fees will be fully refunded.

 * CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
