Purpose & ObjectivesIt can be relatively easy to record a short digital story using a software program like Audacity, but the "now what" question often stumps many teachers. Digital stories need to be uploaded (or in the case of VoiceThread, directly recorded) onto an Internet website, and then a mechanism needs to be provided to help others safety provide feedback (moderated by the teacher) for those knowledge products. VoiceThread is a wonderful, free web 2.0 digital storytelling environment which facilitates the logistical processes required before, during, and after the actual production of a digital story by students. Come learn how to jump feet-first into digital storytelling with your students using VoiceThread!OutlineWe will review the pedagogical reasons to utilize digital storytelling as a differentiated means for assessment of student knowledge and skills, and explore both examples and the "point and click details" of using VoiceThread for digital storytelling across the curriculum.Supporting ResearchI have extensive references to academic research sources as well as practical examples of the use of digital storytelling (including VoiceThread specifically) on my blog (awarded "Best Learning Theory Blog" of 2006 by Discovery Education and eSchoolNews) on www.speedofcreativity.org.Presenter BackgroundMy biographical information and vitae is available on http://www.wesfryer.com/bio/.
