Purpose & ObjectivesDifferentiated Instruction-one click at a time Imagine opening the door and walking into a classroom where differentiated instruction is the pulse of the classroom. By attending this session, participants will actually step into the shoes of their students and experience first hand what it would be like to be part of a learning experience that actually takes into account individual learning needs. Participants in this session will begin by completing a pre-assessment tool that will be administered to determine what their learning needs are. Upon completing the assessment participants will then be grouped according to their learning needs. Based on the learning needs determined from the pre-assessment, participants will experience a lesson that has been created to address those specific learning needs discovered from their pre-assessment. These lessons will be posted in folders created in ikeepbookmarks.com (an online book marking tool). The folders will be overflowing with online resources, templates and lesson plans that can be used to support their learning. Some of the resources integrated into the lessons will include United Streaming, Inspiration, blogs and more. After actually completing a learning experience designed to address their identified needs, the presentation will then shift to familiarizing educators with resources that can support the creating of differentiated learning experiences. A toolbox overflowing with a variety of technology based resources will be shared and explored. These resources will also be presente via a blog and ikeepbookmarks. They will be available as a resource for educators as they work to create a classroom where differentiated instruction is the pulse that keeps the enthusiasm for learning pumping through the veins of their classroom. To summarize the session will target the following objectives: • the importance of getting to know the learner • the importance of assessing the learner • the importance of creating a learning plan that takes into account various needs of the learner • the benefits of utilizing online resources to streamline the process of creating differentiated lesson plans. Other management strategies will also be shared and included in a management folder for the participants to refer to. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their management experiences via a blog that will be created for the session to foster global communication on the topic. Closing Session- Participants will be made aware of the various online resources that have been created to support them in making differentiated instruction the pulse of their classroom.
