Opening Reception

Sunday, June 24, 7–9 pm Add to Planner

An opening night splash! The NECC 2007 Opening Reception is sure to please everyone! Join your fellow conference participants and their families at the brand new Georgia Aquarium — the largest aquarium in the world (by both square footage and tank size)!

Bluering-Angelfish All attendees receive complimentary admission to the aquarium to explore to their heart's content, as do registered guests, exhibitor personnel, and non-registered family members who accompany registrants. Light food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, courtesy of NECC's Tier One sponsors.

The reception follows NECC's Opening Keynote at the Georgia World Congress Center. Shuttle transportation will be provided between the GWCC, the Aquarium, and most conference hotels.

The Georgia Aquarium features eight million gallons of fresh and marine water, with more than 120,000 animals representing 500 species from around the globe! Current exhibits include: Lagoon Jelly

  • Cold Water Quest features Beluga whales, California sea lions, sea otters, African black-footed penguins, Australian leafy sea dragons, giant Pacific octopus, garibaldi damselfish, and Japanese spider crabs. These animals, and more, give you a glimpse of the rich variety of life found in cold ocean waters. These are the same regions that support the world's major fisheries, many of which are in peril.

  • Georgia Explorer features a highly interactive gallery with touch tanks full of horseshoe crabs, sea stars, stingrays and shrimp; and Georgia sea turtles and the fishes of Gray's Reef, an underwater area off the Georgia coast designated a National Marine Sanctuary. Right Whales, one of the most endangered mammals on the planet, are also included. They spend the winter and give birth to their calves in Georgia waters.

  • Loggerhead Turtle
  • River Scout features a themed environment of waterfalls, logjams, and a simulated meandering North American river. Electric fishes of Africa and South America are presented in aquariums and highlighted in video programs. A "walk-in" piranha tank and the highly sociable Asian small-clawed otter are included.

  • Tropical Diver features one of the largest living reef exhibits of any aquarium in the world. Living corals and thousands of colorful reef fishes are presented in a faithful recreation of a tropical Pacific coral reef. Animals include: sand-dwelling garden eels and tiny glassy sweepers, colorful reef squid and clown fish, seahorses, fairy basslets, yellow-head jawfish, and jellies ("jellyfish").

Take Me Out to the Ballgame... Atlanta Braves vs. Detroit Tigers

Sunday, June 24, Game starts at 8:00 pm
PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME
$17 per person admission to game

Registration opens mid-February.

Turner Field's Grand Entry Plaza located on the north end of the ballpark is the home and heart of the Braves. The Plaza is a ticketed entertainment / concession area consisting of two food and game-filled pavilions, Scouts Alley, and Cartoon Network's Tooner Field all aimed at encouraging fans to come early to Braves games and enjoy perhaps the most unique experience in all of baseball.

Located just inside the main Turner Field gates, the East and West Pavilions feature unique foods and games, providing much to see and do for those fans who arrive early to the ballpark. Your group-priced seat is located in the West Pavilion, where fans will find concession stands that feature famous food items from other ballparks throughout baseball along with a Turner Field original offering, bison. Also located at the West Pavilion are games where fans can test their hitting skills at Little Leaguers and Big Hitters, and their throwing skills at the Peach Pitch.

Transportation

Let MARTA's Stadium Shuttle take you to Turner Field quickly and without the hassle of downtown traffic jams. The shuttle leaves from Five Points Station at the Underground/World of Coca-Cola Plaza 90 minutes before the game and continues every 15 minutes until 1 hour after the last out. Visit the MARTA Web site for more game shuttle information.

Terrace Pavilion seats are covered, Field Pavilion seats are not and are located a little closer to the field. See the Turner Field Seating Chart for more details. Specify section preference with your registration.

PLEASE NOTE: Group pricing is subject to a minimum number of tickets being sold by May 23, 2007. Ticket purchase and/or cancellation deadline is May 23. See the Cancellation Policy for details.
