Frequently Asked Questions

How are the rooms set up? How many people can stay in each room?
The Olympic Housing complex at Georgia Tech features apartment-style space (individual sleeping rooms with two residents sharing a complete bathroom). All residents of the apartment share a living room and kitchen. The majority of the rooms are quads, but there are doubles, (two twin sleeping rooms sharing the bathroom, living area, and kitchen) and a few rooms that will accommodate up to seven people (all with twin sleeping rooms, sharing the common space).

Bedrooms are furnished with a bed (with extra-long mattress, and bed linens), desk, desk chair, lockable footlocker, wardrobe and dresser. This description applies to nearly all rooms in the building. Some rooms may have a slightly different configuration due to design differences and renovations. All rooms will have the same compliment of furniture, however. The apartments also have living room furnishings, with dining table and chairs, sofa, chairs, and coffee table. The apartment has a telephone jack in the living room and each bedroom, but service and a handset are not provided.

The kitchens in apartments have a microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, and stove, so the following are suggested items to bring: kitchen towels, dishwasher detergent, liquid soap, paper towels, ice trays, and trash bags. Bathrooms will include linens, but not toiletries.

Are bed and bath linens provided?
Bed and bath linens are both provided: a pillow, blanket, sheets, 2 small towels, 1 washcloth, 1 pillowcase, 1 soap & 1 cup will be on your bed upon arrival. Note that linens will not be exchanged during your stay. Toilet paper is already in place in each bathroom.

I want to stay with other people I know... how do I do that?
For the quad-style housing, if you want to stay with other people you know, the best way is for one person to reserve the quad, listing the other three as "share with" reservations. Those requesting quad-style housing but not specifying roommates will be placed on a space-available basis.

For the duet singles, you may indicate a preferred adjoining partner. If no preference is given, you will be placed on a space-available basis.

Are there any additional amenities included?
An activity room, which includes a TV, is located in each building. A small workout room is located on the first floor, and includes stationary bikes, a stairmaster, and a weight machine. Laundry facilities are available nearby.

What time is check out?
Check out is expected by noon on the day of your departure. Late check out requests may be accommodated.

Are there specific dates that the rooms are available?
Accommodations will be available in 3- or 4-night-minimum packages from June 22–27, 2007.

How much does it cost?
The cost per bed, including linens/towels, is $69/night/person. There are rooms available for a 3-night stay and rooms available for a 4-night stay. No shorter stays can be accommodated through this program. A lost-key charge of $50 will be passed along to any reservation holder not returning her/his key upon check out. Full payment must be received by ISTE prior to check-in; Georgia Tech is not handling reservations directly.

What about parking?
Secured, covered parking is available for an additional $7.50/day. Parking reservations will be made online with the housing reservation.

How do we get to the GWCC?
ISTE will be providing daily motorcoach shuttle service to and from the convention center. The exact schedule is still to be determined, but will include several morning and afternoon runs. The distance between the Georgia Tech housing complex and the GWCC is less than 2 miles each way. Driving yourselves is discouraged, as parking at the GWCC is expensive and limited. MARTA service is also available.

What else do I need to know?
When you sign up for this housing program, your e-mail address will be captured and any relevant notifications and correspondence will be sent to you electronically. This will include specific check-in/check-out times, maps of how to get to the housing complex, parking structure identification, and more. Note that the Georgia Tech conference services department will not necessarily have information available about this program. The ISTE/NECC 2007 registration office is your best resource for questions and information: 1.800.280.6218 or .
