Purpose & Objectives

Time Magazine made YOU its person of the year for 2006 because of the new generation of web-based tools that allow us to communicate, collaborate, and create content. Yet schools are only beginning to use these tools. How can we start the conversation within our schools and districts to take advantage of new opportunities (and minimize the obstacles)? Join this panel to find out more about approaches like School 2.0 and books and tools that can help us understand the issues, get started talking about what works, and get up and running with Web. 2.0.

Outline

1) Introductions – Gwen Solomon
2) Will Richardson starts the conversation with the perspective of the teacher's perspective. What are the challenges?
3) Dave Warlick will talk about the professional development perspective and the challenges there.
4) Lynne Schrum will talk about the higher ed perspective.
5) Gwen will talk about insights from being the web director for an ed tech magazine.
6) Tim Magner will discuss the School 2.0 initiative and starting the conversation in schools.
7) Audience discussion
