What to know about volunteering?
  • You'll assist us with one (or more) 3-hour shifts
  • Choose your area of interest (see tasks below)
  • We'll ask for your schedule preference
  • Volunteers qualify for a conference discount (equals Super Early Bird rate, up to the conference)

Ask Me Ask Me Stations answer questions; give directions, etc.; each Ask-Me station will be equipped with an information reference packet, FAQ sheets Comfortable with busy public interaction in a high traffic location; quick learner; friendly and helpful orientation; some with high knowledge of local area; veteran conference attendees a plus
Booth Assistance ETAN Booth invite and help attendees to send e-mail letters to Congress through the ETAN Web site Friendly and outgoing; comfortable with public interaction
Information Booth answer questions; give directions, etc.; station will be equipped with an information reference packet, FAQ sheets Comfortable with busy public interaction in a high traffic location; quick learner; friendly and helpful orientation; some with high knowledge of local area; veteran conference attendees a plus
ISTE Central greet members and assist ISTE staff in the association booth Comfortable with high traffic and public interaction
Testimonial Kiosk greet members and assist with creation of testimonials Comfortable with high traffic and public interaction
Event Assistance Attendee Events helping to distribute ticketed pick-up items to attendees
Seat-drop (and pick-up) material on seats before General Session(s) Team worker, passion, mobility, and fun-loving
Pre-Conference Events Box movers and packet set-up; need strong able-bodied workers Packet prep requires strength; involves lifting / moving and unpacking boxes
Packet stuffing; put material into conference bags assembly-line style Involves standing / stuffing / shifting bags around
Member Events varied assistance with member events; greet and direct people, check in registrants, collect, pass out and/or seat drop materials at events Friendly and outgoing; comfortable with public interaction
Relations Greeters General: greet attendees; greet and direct attendees; give out daily newsletter Some local people would be most helpful; comfortable outside (hot weather); comfortable with high traffic and public interaction

Hosts act as host to Presenters' World; greet presenters; help get their questions answered as needed; help keep room presentable; staff the Presenters' World presenter storage area for presenters to store their stuff—involves check-in/out and acting as gatekeeper Comfortable with public interaction; experience with computers and applications
greet Press and assist ISTE staff and Public Relations Firm, with hosting Press work room
Sessions Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) and Open Source assist attendees and presenters at the beginning and during these sessions
Workshops assist attendees and presenters at the beginning and during these sessions
Model Classrooms assist Program Chairs and presenters within this content area
Playgrounds assist Program Chairs and presenters within this area, including Second Life playground
Posters assist Poster Co-Chairs and presenters within this content area
Student Showcase assist Student Showcase Co-Chairs and presenters within this content area
Interactive Video-conferencing IVC Help Support IVC presenters before and during their sessions, workshops, and showcases. Assist with microphone and camera manipulation and audience management. In the case of showcases, may be called upon to stand-in as "on camera" host/facilitator for remote presenter. Experience with leading and conducting videoconferences. "On camera" experience as either a local or remote presenter helpful.
Support IVC session, workshop, and showcase operations. Test connections, monitor sessions, troubleshoot problems. Understanding of video conference connections (H.323) and equipment. Experience with Polycom or TANDBERG equipment helpful
Technical Tech Help Dr. Is In: answer attendees' technical questions Experience in troubleshooting both MAC and PC computers, and handhelds; in Presenters' World, previous presenting experience a plus
Presenters' World Tech: act as in-room technical assistance for presenters using Presenters World
